The residents of our community founded the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler back in 1941 in order to help provide emergency treatment and transportation to the sick and injured members of our community. In 1962 we moved to our second location at 150 North Main Street. In October of 2003, we moved to our present location at 1414 Butler Pike, Ambler. Our organization maintains a fleet of 4 Mobile Intensive Care Units, Several EMS Bike Patrol Units, as well as an On-Call Officer’s Car.
We provide Advanced Life Support coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year. Each ambulance is staffed with a PA Certified Emergency Medical Technician and a PA licensed Paramedic. These crews are supplemented by the invaluable volunteers our organization prides itself on.
We take great pride in equipping all of the emergency vehicles with the best pre-hospital equipment. The vehicles meet or exceed the state mandates for minimum equipment. Each ambulance carries a 12 lead EKG/Defibrillator. It allows transmission of EKG tracings directly to the hospital. Each ambulance also carries additional equipment that assists in the handling of many different emergency situations and has the ability to transport 2 patients.
We serve the communities of Ambler Borough and Lower Gwynedd Township as well as parts of Upper Dublin Township. The PA Turnpike Commission and the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler have an agreement that the Ambulance will respond to all emergencies that occur between the Willow Grove and Mid-County tolls.
The Community Ambulance Association of Ambler is an independent non-profit emergency ambulance association. We receive no tax dollars from the state or any of the municipalities we serve. An annual membership campaign is held each year. Third party patient billing raises the majority of monies used for operational expenses. Patients who become members will only pay 50% of the balance after all insurance payments are made.

CAAA has been awarded the American Heart Association Lifeline Bronze Plus, an award that recognizes EMS agencies for meeting standards for treatment of patients with serious heart attack symptoms. A goal for this award is to obtain an EKG within 10 minutes off first medical contact, but we are proud to report an average time of 8.7 minutes in our treatment of patients.
CAAA is also recognized as Prepared for Pediatrics – Expert Level by the Commonwealth of PA. EMS agencies are recognized under this program for showing significant dedication to providing excellent pediatric emergency medical care.
In addition to offering dispatched emergency medical care, CAAA strives to provide additional services to the community. CPR and First Aid training is available for both individuals and groups, either at our location or yours. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
